Early Intervention

Supporting Early Voices from the Very Start

At Inclusive Speech & Language Services, we believe that every child deserves to be heard, understood, and supported; right from the beginning.

We are proud to be an approved provider of Early Intervention services through New York State. This allows us to support infants and toddlers during the most important stages of development.

What is Early Intervention?

Early Intervention (EI) in New York State (NYS) is a free program that helps babies and toddlers from birth to age 3 who may need a little extra support as they grow and learn. It’s designed to support children who are behind in areas such as speech and language, movement, learning, social skills, or daily routines.

The goal of Early Intervention is to help children build important skills as early as possible. The earlier support starts, the better because young children’s brains are growing and changing so quickly during these early years. Early services can make a big difference in helping your child communicate, play, learn, and become more independent.

If you’re wondering whether your child might need support, trust your instincts. You don’t need a diagnosis to get started. To qualify for Early Intervention in NYS, a child must show a developmental delay in one or more areas, or have a diagnosed condition that could impact development. A free evaluation will help determine if your child qualifies and what kind of support would be helpful.

If you have concerns, don’t wait and see; reach out as soon as possible. Early support leads to better outcomes for children and gives families the tools they need to help their child succeed. You can contact your local Early Intervention Program to request an evaluation and take the first step toward support.

What if my Child Doesn't Qualify?

If your child goes through an Early Intervention evaluation and doesn’t qualify, that does not mean your child doesn’t need support. It simply means they did not meet the state’s specific eligibility guidelines, which can be quite strict.

Sometimes, children may still benefit from support even if they are not significantly delayed enough to qualify for services through the state program. Every child develops at their own pace, and concerns about speech, language, or development are always valid.

If that happens, Inclusive Speech & Language Services is here to help. At our clinic, we offer services that can often be covered through your insurance, allowing your child to continue receiving the support they need in a personalized, family-centered setting. This means we work closely with you to support your child in a way that fits into your daily routines and goals. We focus on play-based, child-led therapy to help your child build skills in a way that feels natural, fun, and engaging.

Whether your child qualifies for Early Intervention or not, early support is always valuable and you don't have to navigate it alone. If you are unsure of what they next step should be, we can review your concerns, answer your questions, and create a plan that supports your child's growth even if they didn't qualify for state services.
