Ana Buettner (Canale), M.S. CCC-SLP/L, TSSLD
Ana grew up in Buffalo and is now the proud Owner and Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Inclusive Speech & Language Services. She is licensed in New York State, nationally credentialed from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and received a Professional Teaching Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities.
Ana received her Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Kent State University with minors in American Sign Language, Spanish, and Psychology. She continued her education to obtain a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University. At Gallaudet, Ana became proficient in American Sign Language from being immersed in the Deaf Community everyday. Ana is a strong believer that knowing ASL has made her a better SLP.
After graduating from Gallaudet, Ana returned home to Buffalo and began her career as an SLP. She has worked in a variety of settings. These include private practices, early intervention, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and a Deaf school. Ana's experiences range from newborns to palliative care patients who presented with various communication and swallowing disorders. Currently, she works at a St. Mary’s School for the Deaf and her private practice, Inclusive Speech & Language Services. Ana's interests include the Deaf and hard of hearing and linguistically/culturally-diverse populations.
Ana resides in Clarence, New York with her husband and Cavapoo puppy; Oliver. When not in the office, she enjoys traveling, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, exercising, and attending concerts.
A 10-15 minute phone call designed to attain a holistic view of the individual inquiring about speech therapy services. During this phone call, the therapist will determine the type of evaluation needed and answer any questions.
A comprehensive assessment is conducted to determine the diagnosis, need, type, and frequency of services. A typical evaluation takes between 45 to 60-minutes and consists of
a history review, informal observations of all areas related to speech therapy, questionnaires, hearing screening, and formal standardized testing in the area of difficulty. The results of the evaluation are discussed during the first treatment session.
Treatment sessions are one-on-one with a licensed and credentialed speech therapist for 30-minutes. The frequency of services range from one to two times per week to biweekly.
Inclusive collaborates with the individual's family, school, workplace, and/or other professionals related to their plan of care. The goal is to encourage carryover and generalization of the skills learned in the therapy room.
